UK Prepared to Employ Immobilized Russia's Funds to Support the Ukrainian Military Campaign
The UK is set to progress with employing the total value of immobilized Russian assets to aid the Ukrainian military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.
In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would escalate tension on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.
They added that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the US.
British penalties have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, resources sent to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been drawn from profits and interest accrued on them.
Sir Keir told President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their desire to push forward toward using the complete amount of the immobilized Russia's state funds to halt hostilities.
He added that further restrictions soon would heighten the tension on Russia.
This statement is subsequent to European Union representatives convened in Copenhagen recently to debate employing seized Russia's funds for a 140-billion-euro credit to Ukraine.
Last month, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to seize or employ seized Russia's assets, as reported by reports.
The worth of seized Russian holdings in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Russia carried out widespread aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on recently, causing power cuts in many areas of the capital city, the city, and eight other regions.

Additionally that day, Zelensky stated to the press he would encourage Sir Keir to join the Purl scheme, under which Nato countries acquire weapons from the US to provide to the Ukrainian forces.
While praising the Britain's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he noted it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the system, as well as apply more measures on Russia.
