The Renowned Musician Calls On Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign hopes to provide aid to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it fails to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.

“The song holds a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Production History and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The song blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an established charity.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is launching this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
