Lautaro Martínez Brace Keeps Inter on Tail of Frontrunners
Inter forward Lautaro Martínez netted a second-half brace to secure his side a 2-0 win at Pisa, ensuring the away side firmly involved in the Serie A championship battle despite a less than convincing display.

Led by Cristian Chivu, Inter currently sit third in the standings with 27 points total, level with second-placed Roma and just one point behind leaders Milan. Meanwhile, Pisa occupy the 18th position with 10 points.

Inter traveled in Tuscany looking to get back on track after suffering a loss to rivals by Milan recently, followed by a European defeat at Atlético Madrid. Nonetheless, they were made to battle all the way by newly-promoted Pisa. The hosts created plenty of chances, but a clinical Inter scored the opener in the 69th minute when Argentinian Martínez smacked a first-time shot into the roof of the net. The forward then tapped in from point-blank seven minutes from time.
Inter’s capacity to convert despite pressure proved decisive in securing three points.

In Spain, Real Sociedad mounted a thrilling comeback from 2-0 down to equalize at home against Villarreal, only to succumb to a goal five minutes into stoppage time. The visitors’ scoring came from Ayoze Pérez shortly after the 30-minute mark and Alberto Moleiro in the 57th minute, but Carlos Soler soon pulled one back and Ander Barrenetxea equalised three minutes from time. Yet, Moleiro delivered the last word late in stoppage time.
Later on Spanish match, Real Madrid journey to Girona needing a victory to go back to the summit ahead of Barcelona, who recorded a 3-1 win over Alavés on Saturday.
