Iranian Forces State Attack on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
