Beloved Star The actor Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in Friends and The Middle, Dies at Age 60.
American entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic television series including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.
The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones shared in a statement.
They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, such as:
- "King of Queens"
- Friends
- "That '70s Show"
- "House"
Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight series from 2011 to 2018.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).
A Life in Improv
Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.
"He coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.
Paying homage, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote online.
Pat Finn is survived by his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
